 Santa Monica FD

Our grateful  thanks to Santa Monica Fire, we were met by members at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The group took us through Malibu Canyon, we crested a hill and there it was the ocean. I got a lump in my throat as I thought to myself that we had made it, this was the end of the trip. We stopped in Malibu for a cold beverage, and to allow the moment to soak in. We then headed on into Santa Monica and the pier; the end of RT 66. We then followed the group to the fire station where we were greeted by a large banner and a large group of the SM fire department. We cooked around 30 pounds of meat to share with the fine side dishes supplied by the fire department and guests. 

A special thanks to Javier and Janet for all the hard work they did in planning this stop, and to the members of the Santa Monica Fire Department thanks for allowing us to become part of your family, what a spectacular way to end our journey.
