Sitting here at the end of 2009 I reflect back on this adventure (all 4773 miles), and I thank God that my family and I had the great pleasure and privalage to complete such an adventure as this. To meet all the great people we did along the way and the chance to show the kids that the term "Fire Family" is more than just words; there was not one location where we were treated less than a member of your family, for that I thank you from the bottom of my heart. To each fire fighter we met, know that you made an impact in the lives of the two kids we had with us, my niece wants to become a fire fighter because of what she saw in each of you.

El Paso BBQ located in Farmington, NM has become a sponsor to our trip; they will be hosting a car wash on July 18th from 12 - 4 with all proceeds being used to fund one of the fire department meals along Rt 66, and to support the donation to the IAFF. Leather Jacket Raffle

Four Corners Harley Davidson has donated a leather jacket in support of this mission, we will raffle the jacket to help raise money for the trip and the donation to the IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Foundation. The money will be used to purchase food items for the fire fighters at our planned stops along the route, remaining funds will be added to the accumulative donation that will awarded to the IAFF later in the year. Tickets are $5.00 each, or 5 tickets for $20.00, the drawing for the jacket will be held during our stop with the Albuquerque New Mexico Fire Department on 8/1/09.  RT 66 Motorcycle Tour

" Memorial Ride"

July 22, 2009

Kipp and his wife Celeste joined by a support crew of friends and family departed from Farmington, NM escorted by other riders from both Farmington Fire and San Juan County Fire. The group headed North towards Pagosa Springs, CO where the escort group returned South back to Farmington. Kipp and his crew continued on their journey to Chicago, IL with stops in Littleton, CO and Kearney, NE. We spent two days in Chicago and had an excellent time with the Chicago Fire Department (House 125). We then started our tour of historic RT 66 and the Fire Fighters who protect the towns and cities along the way. Each day we stopped to cook meals for some of the departments along the way (view pictures from the stops using the links from the right side of the page).

 We ride for the memory of all Fire Fighters lost, we are honored to of had the chance to meet the crews of our two memorial riders.

 Oklahoma City FD Cpl. Chris Dill who passed away March of this year at a 3 alarm structure fire.

 
Maplewood FD Ryan Hummert Who was lost in July 2008 when shot when responding to a vehicle fire.
